Top Transfer Prospects for 2024 – Part 1

Read up on some of the hottest transfer targets of 2024!

The year 2024 promises to be an important one in the world of football – and we mean off the pitch as well as on it. Read on for part 1 of our look at the hottest transfer prospects for the next year.

As well as a brand new format of the CL and major international tournaments in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, the transfer market holds plenty of promise across the next 12 months.

In this short article series we have picked out 11 players who could be on the move in 2024, whether in January or next summer, with the firs 6 players below.

Kylian Mbappe

The rumours linking Kylian Mbappe with a switch to Real Madrid refuse to go away. The France international came close to leaving Paris Saint-Germain for the Spanish giants in 2022, only for the forward to perform a u-turn and sign a lucrative new deal to keep him at the Parc des Princes.

But for how much longer? Real Madrid are still desperate to sign the player that many consider to be the best in the world. Mbappe, meanwhile, has made no secret of his desire to play at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu one day.

As things stand the WC winner will become a free agent next summer, so we can expect him to be a key figure in the 2024 transfer market.

Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen was a pivotal part of Napoli’s Serie A title success in 2022/23, scoring 26 goals to help the southern side win the league for the first time since the days of Diego Maradona. However, Osimhen has clashed with his own club this season and his days in Naples could be numbered.

The Nigeria international is under contract until 2025, which means next summer will be Napoli’s last realistic chance to get a big fee for the striker.

At 24, Osimhen’s age will be appealing to a host of European clubs looking for their next centre-forward. He has been spoken of as a potential target for the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea.

Ivan Toney

Another striker who could be on the move in 2024, Ivan Toney is currently banned from football until the middle of January after he was found guilty of breaching betting regulations. However, it is a matter of if, not when, the England international leaves Brentford.

Arsenal are thought to be keeping close tabs on a player who was outscored by only two players in the 2022/23 PL campaign.

Brentford will do all they can to retain Toney until next summer, but their manager Thomas Frank has already conceded that the frontman’s future lies away from the Gtech Community Stadium.

Aaron Ramsdale

Aaron Ramsdale was an important part of the Arsenal team that finished second in the PL last season. Regardless, Mikel Arteta was ruthless over the summer, signing David Raya to be his new first-choice goalkeeper.

That has left Ramsdale in limbo. The England international is barely playing for his club right now – and that will be especially concerning given the international tournament on the horizon.

Ramsdale may push for an exit in January in order to get more regular minutes in the build-up to that tournament. More realistic is that he will be permitted to leave at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Serhou Guirassy

Serhou Guirassy has been one of the revelations of the European season so far. The Stuttgart striker has helped his team into the CL positions by scoring 16 goals in his first 11 Bundesliga appearances – a rate of almost 1.5 strikes per game.

It remains to be seen whether Guirassy can keep this up, but he is already attracting admiring glances from clubs higher up the food chain.

If the Guinea international continues to score goals on a regular basis in Germany, he may well seek pastures new in 2024. Stuttgart would probably sell for the right price, despite the fact they only bought Guirassy last summer.

Gabriel Moscardo

In relation to European leagues, domestic football in Brazil and Argentina is not as strong as it once was. However, those two countries – as well as the likes of Colombia and Uruguay – continue to produce superb footballers.

Gabriel Moscardo is one example of a teenage talent who has recently burst onto the scene on the other side of the Atlantic. The Corinthians midfielder is almost certainly on his way to Europe in 2024, with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain thought to be at the front of the queue for his signature.

Gabriel Moscardo will probably take time to adapt to the European game, but he is a wonderfully gifted prospect who could have a big future ahead of him.
